Complete

May 2015

Civil construction of the additional environmental wetlands is now complete.  Planting will continue over the next few months to establish the wetland environment.

Re-Commencing

21 August 2014

Given the recent spell of dry weather and the promising forecast for the foreseeable future, Council's contractor has re-mobilised earlier than expected and are currently de-watering the site in preparation for the return of heavy plant and machinery next week to continue the major construction work starting with completion of the clay liners for the new basins.

Work Halted

July 2014

Council's contractor commenced construction works on-time and has made good progress in terms of completing bulk excavation works along with the placement of around three-quarters of the clay liners for the four wetlands basins.  Unfortunately, despite a good spell of dry weather through Autumn, the recent change in weather conditions has now rendered the site waterlogged plus unsuitable and unsafe for further works of this nature to continue.

Construction works have now been postponed through winter and will re-commence in Spring 2014 with a target date for completion now by the end of 2014.

Wetlands to be Constructed

March 2014

At the Council meeting held on 3 March 2014, the contract to construct the wetlands which will form part of the Environmental Services Centre on Springs Road was awarded to SEM Civil Engineering & Construction.

The site re-development includes a new Field Services Centre for Council, plus space that can be used for environmental education and community activities.  Construction of the new wetlands is the first part of a wider program of work.

Construction will commence the week of 17 March 2014 and be completed by mid 2014.
