Council undertakes an Unsealed Roads Program throughout the district each year. The list of roads will be updated as the program progresses.

The Mount Barker District Council is committed to maintaining roads in good condition to provide a safe environment.  Over the financial year, a number of unsealed roads are scheduled for patrol grading or resheeting.

During works there may be limited access to driveway entrances and vehicles should not be left parked on the road.

All endeavours will be made to ensure a minimum of inconvenience, but alternative routes should be planned while these works are underway.  Road users are requested to adhere to any detours that will be in place.

Roads are maintained by zones as outlined below.

Sealing Unsealed Roads

Council has no formal plans to seal unsealed roads or construct new unsealed roads at this point in time however, it is in the process of investigating an upgrade program for unsealed roads that will be subject to funding.

Dust Suppression

Dust suppression treatment involves the laying of profiling material and then a spray seal of emoleum.  Whilst this may give the appearance of bitumen, it is only a temporary dust suppression measure (lasting up to 5 years) and not a bitumen finish.  The road remains classed as an unsealed road.

Unfortunately, road profiling materials are no longer available and Council has discontinued the dust supression program.

Council is exploring alternative treatment options and will continue to grade unsealed roads in the meantime.
