Young Citizen of the Year

Young Citizen of the Year

Do you know a young person who is making a difference in our community?

The District Council of Mount Barker is pleased to again offer an opportunity to further recognise aspiring young leaders in our community.

Mayors Youth Leadership Incentive

To further encourage young leaders in our community and support their leadership endeavours, Council will provide the Young Citizen of the Year with the Mount Barker District Council Mayor’s Youth Leadership Incentive, comprising $500 toward a youth leadership endeavour of the recipient’s choice and an opportunity to represent the young people of the district.

The Citizen of the Year Awards are proudly presented by the Australia Day Council of South Australia and administered by local Councils across SA. The Awards reward and recognise individuals and organisations that have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year, and/or given an outstanding service over a number of years, to a local community.

Outstanding contribution and community service includes areas such as; education, health, fund-raising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment, or any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of a community.

Mayor Ann Ferguson and Council would like to encourage you to nominate a young person, encourage others to nominate or assist to promote this opportunity to others who may be aware of young people who would be worthy recipients.

Nominations close Friday 11 November 2016.  Eligibility criteria apply.  Nominations can be made on-line at Council’s website or via hard copy available from Local Government Centre, 6 Dutton Rd, Mount Barker.
