Alano Pipeline Consultation

Temporary Traffic Restrictions for Sewage Pipeline Construction

Alano Utilities (Mount Barker) Pty Ltd is constructing a 12 km long sewage pipeline to take sewage from the Aston Hills residential estate in Mount Barker to a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) under construction near Kanmantoo.

Alano Utilities Proposed Pipeline(427 kb)

The contractor is seeking approval to work on Council land, proposing that the pipeline be constructed in Council's road reserve along Back Callington Road, Springs Road, Harper Road, Sims Road and Paech Road.   To facilitate this, the following may be implemented to provide a safe work environment for contractors and road users:

  • temporary road closures
  • road reduced to one lane
  • traffic flow managed with stop go signs
  • reduced speed restrictions

The contractor will be required to provide 3-5 days advance notice of traffic restrictions to adjacent properties as work progresses along the route.

Work is scheduled to commence in September and be complete by December 2015.

This construction project is being undertaken by Alano Utilities (Mount Barker) Pty Ltd.  It is not a Council project.  Any queries about the construction should be directed to Alano Utilities, telephone 8240 2733 or email admin@alanowater.com.

Any queries about traffic restrictions and Council's road reserve should be directed to Council's Manager of Health and Public Safety, Jamie Tann, telephone 8391 7216 or email jtann@dcmtbarker.sa.gov.au.

Council is seeking Feedback

Written submissions are invited on the proposed traffic restrictions to allow Council to consider whether to grant approval for work on Council land. Feedback is to be received no later than 5 pm Wednesday 9 September 2015.
